This two-day forum had several exciting programs.

Thursday

FOR ENTREPRENEURS AND INNOVATORS: Kicked off with an Entrepreneurial Workshop developed by SRI International! The workshop provided a hands-on education and experience for 72 innovators and included break-out sessions of 10.

THE PRIVATE EQUITY PORTION began after Thursday's workshops with the Keynote & Gala Reception featuring Dr. Krishna Kodukula as our Keynote Speaker. He inspired and engaged with his take on Entrepreneurship: Nature or Nurture?

Friday

Day two began at 7:30 am with a registration breakfast and was followed at 8:30 am by the ABF's signature "Live Fire!" event. Over 40 companies submitted business plans and 5 were chosen. Presenting to CVG's angel investor pane,l comprised of the founders or managers of active angel groups in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions, was NERD Energy (VA), EPiEP (UVa), Go Canvas (VA), Neuronascent(MD) and YouPlus (CA). The panelwas distinguished as always:

MICHAEL G. CAIN - Chairman and Founder Wilmington Investor Network (NC) and Managing Partner of Emergent Growth Fund II (FL)
WILLIAM D. HILL - Principal, M.A. Warren Associates, LLC; Member, Angel Investor Forum (CT)

“Live Fire!” was followed by:

a Special Luncheon Speaker – Bulent Atalay, Ph.D., Physics Professor, Author, and Artist (author of Math and the Mona Lisa) who spoke on "Leonardo's Model - Maximizing Creativity." He also has a book coming out this week, November 2008,published by National Geographi, entitled "Leonardo's Universe".

Darden Business Concept Competition closed out the afternoon with innovators with a connection to Darden who presented to a panel of angels and VCs to win prizes and a potential opportunity to enter the Darden Incubator.
